Grandma

Grandma
© Michele S. Reeves

Grandma,
A baby cradled in your arms...
Teaching me your gentle charms.Growing up with you by my side...
Learning from you never to lie.
To understand and not judge too...
Love and kindness I also learned from you.
Through the years you watched me grow...
Teaching me everything I'd need to know.
Listening to every word I've said...
And every word I've wrote you've read.
You've been there for me to the end...
Until the day for you, God did send.
Now you watch me from up above...
Shining down on me your heavenly love.
I will miss you with all my heart...
Thank you for being there from the start.

Ah Mah brought me up ...
Since young, mummy and papa had to work and thus, I grew with with XL (for a while with XY too) and Ash @ Ah Mah's place.
We fought. We played. We laughed. We cried.
Other than the fact that childhood usually holds the most memories,
time with Ah Mah can never be replaced.
I can remember 10000 things about Ah Mah and incidences at her place.
How XL and I love her 'dao yu bak', how we fought for the drumsticks, how we (or was it me?!) broke vases, how I knock my head on tables, how I steal gripe water to drink :p (it is yummy!) ... and the list goes on ...
When I had to go back to Bedok Reservoir (by then, mummy and papa got us a domestic helper), i would wail.
Sly me would then call up 5th uncle, and get him to bring me back to Ah Mah's place,
only to have mummy and papa bring me back (forcefully ?!) later.

I always look forward to CNY ...
I love the humongous gathering at Ah Mah's ...
I love Ah Mah ...
And I miss her lots ...
