Mandai Crematorium

And Ah Mah's funeral ended at Mandai Crematorium Hall 3.

The cold aircon did not help.

It just made things worst.

Prior, the loud clanging of cymbals and drums did not help.

It just made the heart beat faster.

Brought the time faster to Mandai.

Brought the heartache closer to heart.

Memories of Ah Mah bringing us up keep appearing.

Looking at, looking at XL, my heart nearly stopped.

The days when Ah Mah had to tend to us were over.

The days when we shout Ah Mah and she is around are gone.

What's left are mere memories.

All good memories.

Dear said Ah Mah died on a peaceful passing at 91.

She was blessed with her children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren,

and we counted 79 relations on the orbituary.

I should not cry, but tears know no limit.

The heart and the mind know no end.

Past few days, I busied myself.

Took down all the phone numbers of all relatives.

Momentarily, tears stopped.

Spotted a moth yesterday towards the last prayer session before we were to burn the house.

XL said he saw it before that.

I think 小姑and her sons saw it too.

After the burning, I rushed back, could not find it anymore.

Every quiet moment hurts.

And it still hurt ...

Happiness vs sadness

Went to the doc finally this morning after a few nights of fever.
It's my swollen tonsils.
Hope they will be under control with the supposedly stronger
antibiotics.
Need to rush to Tanjong Pagar Town Council to settle some stuff for
the sale of my place.
Things come and go.
People come and go.
Thinking about ah mah brings lots of happy memories.
From the time poor her has to run round the block to feed me my meals
to the times when my parents brought me home and immediately I ran my
uncle to take me back to ah mah's place to be with her.
All these are memories that cannot be replaced by anyone or anything.
The news of ah mah passing was much more than shocking.
Indescribable.
But with such a simple and peaceful passing, I'm sure ah mah is gonna
rest in peace ...
And i cannot allow the sadness to make me forget all the happiness ...

Tingkat Cruise

As part of the Singapore Food Fest, they actually have a Tingkat Cruise @ the Singapore River where one gets to try different food from different dialect groups.

We had the Hokkien Mee, Teo Chew Carrot Cake, Cantonese Tong Shui, Hakka Shun Kuey and Hainanese Chicken Rice. Heh. And we brought home the Tingkat! I like that red Tingkat.

Celebrated dd's birthday @ Marina Bay Sands Hotel.

Super expensive decision that I made.

But it was all worthwhile.

The Infinity Pool made it worth the price.

We didn't bother going anywhere.

Didn't explore the hotel at all.

(One need not stay at the hotel to explore the hotel.

But one need to stay at the hotel to use the pool!)

Love the pool.

Dd's family joined us at the pool,

till after dinner.

The Letter “Z” Will Be Removed from the English Alphabet by Daniel Scocco

Surprising as it sounds, it looks like the English alphabet will be losing one of its letters on June 1st. The announcement came from the English Language Central Commission (ELCC).

Here is a quote from the press release:

After carefully considering and debating the matter for over two years, the ELCC came to the conclusion that the letter “Z” should be removed from the English alphabet. The main objective of this change is to simplify the phonetic aspect of the language, and to unify the American and British spellings.

What will happen to the words that have the letter “z” in them? It depends on the word. According to the ELCC, words that started with a “z” will now start with an “x”. Examples include:

zero becomes xero
zoo becomes xoo
zone becomes xone
zodiac becomes xodiac
Words that featured a “z” with the “s” sound, on the other hand, will now be officially written with the “s” (i.e., unifying the American and British spelling). Examples include:

visualize becomes visualise
analyze becomes analyse
materialize becomes materialise
What do you think about this change? Will it really simplify the English language, or will it make things more confusing?

PEFX July's Dinner

Happy Youth Day (again!)

Yes, I used to blog daily during the school holidays.

Now that school is in, I quite cannot do it!

Took this pictures last week when we went AMK Park to recee for dear's Children's Day Party 2010.

Not a bad place.

Have to finalise details.

More entries I hope today, since it is Youth Day holiday!

But, I have a few more compos to mark and Sci practical test to set.
